Augustana Softball Advances to Central Regional Championships with Win Over Pittsburg State

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Viking softball's bats exploded on Friday afternoon as they advanced to the NCAA Central Regional Championships with a 7-2 win over No. 1 seed and host Pittsburg State.

Augustana 7, Pittsburg State 2
Grace Glanzer pitched a two-run complete game as she moved to 25-3 on the season. She struck out four batters and allowed one walk. Gracey Brink and Ashton Dorman hit three-run bombs over the center field fence to help propel the Vikings to victory.

The scoring began in the bottom of the second inning as Nicole Bellis powered the ball down the right-field line to bring home Brink. PSU answered in the top of the third with two runs off two hits and one error.

Augustana didn't take long to regain the lead as Andrea Cain singled to center field and Torri Chute made her way to first via a walk. Brink stepped into the box and took the first pitch over the deepest part of the outfield wall to make the game 4-2.

The game remained 4-2 through the fourth inning before the bats came alive in the bottom of the fifth as Chute singled to left center and Brink advanced to first on a walk. On a 1-2 count, Dorman homered to center field and made the game 7-2.

Glanzer remained strong throughout the final two innings and helped seal the Vikings' win.
