SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Fresh off winning an NSIC Championship, Augustana softball makes the trip to Pittsburg, Kansas to matchup against Oklahoma Baptist, on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The Vikings were selected as the fourth seed in the Central Region and will play its games at the host school, Pittsburg State.
In a double elimination bracket, Augustana could also face the No. 1 seed Pittsburg State and the No. 8 seed Southern Arkansas. In the other Central Region sits No. 2 seed Rogers State, No. 3 seed Central Oklahoma, No. 6 Washburn and No. 7 Southern Nazarene. The winner of each region will advance to the Super Regional on May 14-15 in a best-of-three at the higher seeds site.
The Vikings
Augustana compiled an impressive 45-13 record and went 27-1 in conference play. The Vikings have won 27 consecutive games coming into the matches. Augustana outscored its opponents 20-0 during the NSIC Tournament and beat Minnesota Duluth 9-0 off a walk-off bomb from
Kennedy Buckman to win the championship by run rule.
Grace Glanzer continues to be dominant in the pitcher circle with a 23-3 record in 28 games started. Glanzer pitched a perfect game and a no-hitter last weekend in the NSIC Championships. She holds an ERA of .58 and was named the NSIC Pitcher and Newcomer of the Year.
Fresh off winning the NSIC Player of the Year,
Gracey Brink has collected 53 runs and tallied 38 RBIs. She holds a batting average of .391 and a slugging percentage of .740.
The Vikings have nine NSIC All-Conference honorees and four gold glovers.
Among the Field
Oklahoma Baptist owns a 40-12 record and is riding its second consecutive GAC regular season title this year with a 30-3 conference mark. Augustana and OBU faced off earlier this season where the Vikings won 4-0.
No. 1 seed Pitt State collected a record of 51-6 and is hosting its first-ever tournament in program history. This will be PSU's first tournament berth since 2017 and fifth overall.
Southern Arkansas is making its eighth consecutive appearance and ninth overall after a record of 34-17. The Muleriders received five All-Gac honorees.
