SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana football team will open the 2024 season ranked No. 14 in the AFCA, the American Football Coaches Association announced Monday. The Vikings open the 2024 year at UMary on Sept. 5.
 
Augustana, picked second in the NSIC preseason poll, concluded 2023 with an 11-2 record after going 9-1 in NSIC action on its way to the first outright conference title for the program since 1959. The Vikings advanced to their third NCAA Division II Playoff in the last four seasons.
 
Earlier this month, the NSIC coaches voted Augustana to finish second in the NSIC. In addition, Jack Fisher and Peyton Buckley were named NSIC Preseason Players to Watch. 
 
Following the opening game at UMary, the Vikings travel to Brookings to take on defending FCS National Champion South Dakota State on September 14.
