SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana basketball programs have announced their 2024-25 schedules with the two teams combining to play 28 home contests including 11 doubleheader dates, including four at the Sanford Pentagon. Both teams begin a new era as
Cody Schilling takes on his first year as head coach for the men's basketball program while
Nate Vogel will lead the charge for the women's program in his first season.
Nonconference Action
Each team will open their 2024-25 slate in St. Joseph, Missouri, at the Tip-Off Classic hosted by Missouri Western. The men take on Central Region finalist Northwest Missouri State on Nov. 8 before a Nov. 10 matchup with the host team. The women open with a pair of 2024 NCAA tournament teams, taking on Fort Hays State on Nov. 8 to begin their trek before a Nov. 9 match-up against the host school.
Other key nonconference dates include Vogel's home debut as Augustana's head coach on Nov. 14 as AU hosts Upper Iowa before welcoming Central Missouri to town on Nov. 16 with both games taking place inside the Elmen Center. During that same weekend, the men will travel to Spearfish, S.D., where they'll take on South Dakota School of Mines on Nov. 15 and Black Hills State on Nov. 16.
Schilling's first home game at the helm will take place in The Bill Gross Thanksgiving Classic Nov. 29-30 where they will welcome Jamestown, Truman State and Minnesota State to the Elmen Center. The Vikings will take on the Bulldogs on Nov. 29 before a Nov. 30 game against the Jimmies.
The women round out their nonconference schedule with a pair of home games, starting with a Nov. 27 meeting with Hastings College and ending with a Dec. 31 game against Mount Marty.
NSIC Play
Augustana women's NSIC opener is a road contest against Sioux Falls on Nov. 21 and the men play Nov. 26 before their NSIC home schedule opens Dec. 6-7 for the first games inside the Sanford Pentagon in 2024-25. Winona State is the foe on Dec. 6 while reigning men's and women's National Champion Minnesota State serves as the visitor on Dec. 7.
League play continues Dec. 13-14 with road games at Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota Duluth. The Bulldog men reached the NCAA Tournament a season ago, falling in the region semifinals against the aforementioned NWMSU team.
Augustana welcomes Southwest Minnesota State to the Elmen Center on Dec. 19 and then travels to Wayne State on Dec. 21 to round out NSIC action before the calendar changes.
NSIC play resumes in 2025 with Augustana hitting the road, first to St. Cloud State on Jan. 3 and then to Bemidji State on Jan. 4
The squads then embark on a three-game home stand by hosting UMary and Northern State on Jan. 10-11, respectively, and close the stretch by hosting Minot State on Jan. 18. All three opponents will be hosted inside the Elmen Center.
The teams go back on the road for three games starting Jan. 24 at MSU Moorhead before a Jan. 25 tilt against Minnesota Crookston and concluding with a trip to Southwest Minnesota State on Jan. 30.
On Feb. 1, Wayne State comes to the Elmen Center before the Vikings travel to Winona State for a Feb. 5 doubleheader.
Augustana will play four home doubleheaders before concluding the regular season on the road. Minnesota Duluth will come to the Elmen Center on Feb. 8 before the stage is set for a rivalry renewal with Sioux Falls there on Feb. 11. The final two home doubleheaders will take place at the Sanford Pentagon when Bemidji State comes to campus on Feb. 14 and St. Cloud State makes the trek on Feb. 15. The regular season ends in Minot State on Feb. 21.
For the fourth-straight year, there will be an alteration of tipoff times for NSIC contests. For half of the season, the men will play the first game of the doubleheader while the women will play the first game of the doubleheader in the other half of the season.
