SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana hockey team (13-7-1, 5-3 CCHA) downed Lindenwood (5-17-1) by a score of 3-2 Friday night in Midco Arena. The Vikings netted two goals in the third period to extend their win streak to four games.
Augustana opened up the scoring in the early moments of the first period after
Hayden Hennen wired in a power play goal from the top of the point off a pass from
Colton Friesen. Hennen's go-ahead goal pushed the momentum in Augustana's favor as it led in shots on goal 9-7 through the first 20 minutes of play. The Vikings went 1-1 on power play opportunities and killed off its lone penalty without allowing a shot on goal.
The ice tilted in Lindenwood's favor in the middle frame as Ty Hipkin tied the game at 1-1 2:03 into play. Hipkin glided through Augustana's defense before he went backhand high past
Josh Kotai. LU continued to dominate puck possession as Kristof Papp wired in a power play goal to give the Lions its first and only lead of the night. Augustana shifted momentum back in its favor as it outshot Lindenwood 16-9.
AU controlled third-period action as it kept the puck in the offensive zone. Midway through the third period,
Easton Young caught a stretch pass and found himself on a breakaway, after a missed chance, Young battled for the puck and found
Luke Mobley out front who fired the puck past Owen Bartoszkiewicz to tie the game at 2-2. Just over three minutes later,

Simon Falk who played the rubber to
Garett Drotts as he went short-side low for his first collegiate goal and the eventual game-winner. Augustana ran into penalty trouble in the final minutes of play as it was forced to kill off a five-on-three to hold on to the lead. The Vikings' defense and strong play from Kotai helped propel the Vikings to its fourth straight win.
