The Golden Eagles pushed ahead 14-8 before Fried, Conner Kraft and Coleman each scored a pair to even the scoring with 11:10 to go in the half.

UMC marched back ahead thanks to a 9-2 run, but an Akoi and-one stopped it for a moment and cut back into the deficit. The Golden Eagles continued tacking onto its lead, growing it to eight, but an 11-2 Viking run that included a 7-0 Coleman personal run helped AU leap to a 30-29 lead with 3:24 to go in the half.

Fried opened the second half with an offensive rebound and finish and Akoi knocked down a pair of free throws on the next possession to reclaim a lead at 38-35. Akoi continued the run with a jumper on the third possession before a Golden Eagle 3-pointer and jumper ended the run and evened the score at 40-40 with 16:51 remaining.

Ferguson scored the next five points and after a UMC 3-pointer, Te Slaa hit a 3-pointer for his first points of the game to keep the Vikings ahead by five. Back-and-forth action helped keep the Viking lead at five before a Te Slaa 3-pointer with 9:59 left gave AU a 57-49 lead.

With the Vikings leading 59-52, UMC chipped away. A 13-6 run over a six minute stretch evened the scoring at 65-65 with 1:55 to play in the game.
