BOX SCORE 2 YOUNGSVILLE, La. – In the first day of competition in the 2025 season, No. 7 Augustana softball fell to No. 12 Mississippi College, 2-1, and Southern Arkansas, 4-1, on Friday at the Mardi Gras Invitational.
GAME ONE: No. 12 Mississippi College 2, No. 7 Augustana 1
Augustana's first game of the season came down to the top of the seventh inning, but ended in a 2-1 heartbreak against the Choctaws.
The Vikings tallied five hits in the game, including a double from
Lexi Lander that brought home
Norah Christiansen for the first score of the game in the second inning. Yet it was two doubles from the home team on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth that set up runners in scoring position, eventually taking the lead.
Ashton Dorman and
Lexi Lander each knocked two hits and were joined by
Desi Cuevas with one.
GAME TWO: Southern Arkansas 4, No. 7 Augustana 1
The Vikings fell to the Muleriders, 4-1, in the second game of opening day.

Augustana will continue competition at the Mardi Gras Invitational on Saturday, facing Harding for the first time in program history at 3:30 p.m. and Texas A&M Kingsville at 6 p.m.
