BISMARCK, N.D. – A pair of second-half goals proved the difference as Augustana women's soccer fell 2-0 to the University of Mary on Sunday afternoon at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.
The Vikings controlled much of the opening half, outshooting the Marauders 6-2 while holding a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. Despite the sustained pressure and 58 percent possession, Augustana couldn't find the back of the net as both teams entered halftime scoreless.
UMary broke through early in the second half when Dina Polanco struck from distance in the 49th minute for her sixth goal of the season. The Marauders doubled their lead in the 81st minute when Rachel Gensch converted off a pass from Tara Young to make it 2-0.
Madelyn White led Augustana with three shots, including two on target, while
Grace Katter added two attempts off the bench.
Taya Baker made three saves in goal as the Vikings finished with 10 total shots and four on target.
