Vikings Earn 1-0 Decision Over USF

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana soccer team moved to 8-2-2 overall and 6-2-1 in the NSIC on Friday afternoon with a 1-0 win over Sioux Falls (5-6-1, 3-5-1). Grace Katter collected the lone goal.

In the final minutes of the first half, Avery Heinz challenged a USF possession and won the ball on the north sideline. After taking possession, she sent a cross to Katter, who rattled a deflected shot into the back of the net.

Taya Baker saved all three shots she faced in Friday's affair.

SHOT (AU) 17' - Madelyn White got into the offensive action, getting her shot saved while continuing pressure.

SHOTS (AU) 23' - Avery Nelson nearly opened the scoring on a free kick, sending the set piece into the sun and watching it bounce off the crossbar. Ally Hamski was there to clean it up, but her shot would get scooped by the keeper.

GOAL (AU) 43' - With time winding down, Heintz won possession and hit Katter inside the box where Katter found the back of the net off a USF deflection.

SHOT (AU) 51' - Hamski fired off a shot that was swept up by the keeper.

SAVE (AU) 60' - Baker earned her first save of the day, scooping up a threat from the Cougars.

SAVE (AU) 73' - The biggest Cougar threat of the day came from inside the box but a diving Baker punched the shot off the post and out of harm's way.

SAVE (AU) 77' - USF sent a knuckler in from outside the box but Baker was there to take care of business.

CHANCE (USF) 90' - The Cougars drew a penalty just outside the box with just under a minute to play. They sent a shot on the set piece but Nelson blocked the potential game-tying shot to close out the win.
