ST. PAUL, Minn. – Josh Kotai of Augustana men's hockey was named the CCHA Goalie of the Month for October, announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.  

Kotai, a Abbotsford, British Columbia native, went 4-3 in October with a goals-against average of 1.86 and 193 saves. The honor is Kotai's first monthly award of the season and third of his career after he received CCHA Goalie of the Month in October and January last season. 

During his stretch, he had a 40-save shutout against now nationally-ranked Minnesota Duluth and has registered at least 30 saves in three of the seven games. He is also 2-0 against nationally ranked opponents after a sweep over No. 15/16 Arizona State.

Ranking second nationally in save percentage among goalies with at least six starts, he has been the lone Vikings goalie to see time between the pipes so far this season, racking up 420:05 minutes.

The netminder returns to action this weekend as the Vikings take on Ferris State on the road Friday and Saturday.
