MINOT, N.D. – Augustana volleyball dominantly capped its regular season road schedule, sweeping Minot State (25-20, 25-15, 25-19) Saturday afternoon inside the MSU Dome. The Vikings improved to 14-12 overall and 8-10 in NSIC play.
Augustana controlled the match from the opening serve, posting a .255 hitting percentage and an 8-4 advantage in team blocks. The Vikings tallied 39 kills compared to Minot State's 31 and converted on 70 percent of their sideout opportunities across the three sets.
Senior
Maya Wente led the Vikings' offense with nine kills on a .389 hitting clip, adding four total blocks and 11.0 points in another steady two-way performance.
Reagan Jansen added eight kills, 17 digs, and two blocks for a team-high 13.0 points, while
Lucy Belisle continued her hot streak with seven kills and a team-best .429 hitting percentage.
Kelby Opland chipped in six kills and a block, and
Sydney Tims contributed three blocks and a service ace as the Vikings' front line continued to frustrate the opposition.
Maddie Muellner and
Karalynn Leach provided sparks off the bench, combining for three kills on eight swings.
The Vikings opened with crisp offensive execution, hitting .243 and controlling the tempo throughout. Wente and Jansen each tallied four kills, while Belisle added three. Augustana used a 7-3 mid-set surge to build separation and sealed the frame with a block from Belisle and Tims.
The Vikings dominated from start to finish, hitting .310 while limiting Minot State to a negative percentage (-.038). Belisle and Opland each recorded three kills, and Jones contributed an ace during a 6-0 run that pushed Augustana ahead 18-8. The Vikings closed the set with back-to-back kills from Belisle and Muellner.
Augustana closed the sweep with another balanced effort, hitting .222 while adding three aces and four blocks in the frame. Wente delivered three kills and Jansen added two as the Vikings built an early cushion and never looked back. A final swing from
Shelby Barwick, assisted by Franke, secured the victory.
