BOX SCORE 2 YOUNGSVILLE, La. – The No. 7 Augustana Vikings softball team split the second day of action at the Mardi Gras Invitational, falling 2-1 to Harding and defeating Texas A&M Kingsville 11-2 on Saturday.
GAME ONE: Harding 2, No. 7 Augustana 1
In another close game for Augustana, it came down to extra innings before eventually falling, 2-1.
The Vikings struck first after three scoreless innings, with a triple from
Ashton Dorman followed by a single from
Norah Christiansen bringing in the first run. Harding went on to tie it in the bottom of the sixth and the score would remain tied after the seventh, forcing extra innings.
Augustana couldn't get things going in the top of the eighth and a single, sacrifice bunt and a double set up the Bison for the winning run.
Dorman and
Desi Cuevas smacked two hits apiece as Christiansen and
Briana Lee each added in one.
GAME TWO: No. 7 Augustana 11, Texas A&M Kingsville 2
The Vikings bounced back with their first win of the season over the Javelinas, 11-2.

Augustana will face Alabama-Huntsville at 10 a.m. and Miles College at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday in the final day of action at the Mardi Gras Invitational.
