TOPEKA, Kan. – The Augustana baseball team dropped a Tuesday contest to Washburn, 10-0, to open a two game set at Falley Field. The Vikings move to 9-4 overall, while the Icabods move to 11-9.
Washburn scored a run in the second, three in the fourth and two in the fifth before adding four in the seventh to end the run-rule shortened game.
Kobe Eikmeier went 2 for 3 on the day while
Trevor Winterstein led the game off with a single and
Jason Axelberg had a double. Winterstein also drew a pair of walks, as did
Jack Sutton. The Vikings stole three total bases and left 10 men on.
Ethan Cole was dealt the loss, allowing six runs in 4 2/3 innings while striking out three.
Maddox Foss threw 1 2/3 of scoreless ball in relief while
Tom Sun and
Drew Ball each allowed two runs in 1/3 innings of work.
Augustana returns to Falley Field tomorrow afternoon for a 2 p.m., first pitch against Washburn.
