SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana hockey announced its 2025-26 leadership group on Monday night in front of its founding partners in Midco Arena.
Junior forward
Hunter Bischoff was named the third captain in program history and will be joined by assistants
Hayden Hennen and
Will Svenddal.Â
Bischoff, a Grand Rapids, Minnesota native, netted the first goal in Augustana history during the 2023-24 season against Bowling Green. Last season, Bischoff garnered 23 points by way of 10 goals and 13 assists through 35 games played. He was awarded the most determined team award by his teammates and earned CCHA All-Academic, CSC Academic All-District and was named a AHCA/Krampade Division I All-American Scholar. In 61 games with the Vikings, Bischoff has recorded 14 goals and 17 assists for 31 points.Â
Hennen, a junior defenseman, is coming off a career-high 15 points from the blue line. The Hallock, Minnesota native recorded four goals and 10 assists in the 2024-25 season. He played an impactful role on the defense with a team-high 56 blocked shots last season. Hennen spent the time this Summer with the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League for development camp.Â
Svenddal rounds out the leadership group after he recorded a career high eight points during the 2024-25 season. The Minneapolis, Minnesota native, blocked 27 shots last season and scored his first career goal against Lindenwood. He is a two-time CCHA All-Academic.Â
Augustana will begin the 2025-26 season with an exhibition matchup against St. Cloud State on Friday, Oct. 3 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The Vikings will open the regular season on the road against Minnesota Duluth. The CCHA slate begins October 24 in Bemidji, Minnesota, against Bemidji State. Augustana will play 19 of its 34 regular-season games at home.Â
