CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Augustana wrestling team finished its NWCA Duals run on Saturday afternoon, dropping a contest against St. Cloud State before a victory over No. 6 Tiffin to place seventh among 16 of the best DII wrestling programs in the country inside the UNI Dome.

After three consecutive losses,
Hudson Loges made his first career dual appearance at 149 pounds. He opened the scoring with a takedown in the first period and took a 3-1 lead into the second. He added an escape and penalty point in the second and then held off a charge in the third to finish the bout with a 5-2 decision.Â
At 184 pounds,
Josh Wagener earned a decision to round out the Viking victories. After a scoreless first, Wagener fell behind after allowing an escape and a penalty point. He took control in the third, earning a takedown and four nearfall points to spring in front, positioning himself for a decision.Â

Olsen finished his strong weekend with another victory to open the seventh-place dual. He earned a first period takedown and second period escape to take a 4-0 lead. In the third, Olsen collected a takedown early and accumulated a riding point while giving up an escape to win 8-1 and give AU a 3-0 lead.Â
After a Tiffin pin at 133 pounds, the Vikings earned bonus points at both 141 and 149 to reclaim the lead.
Luke Koenen earned four takedowns, an escape and a riding point en route to a 14-4 major decision, putting the Vikings back in front 7-6. That lead accelerated to seven after
Nolan Ambrose sunk a second period pin.Â
The Dragons earned a pin at 157 pounds and
Payton Handevidt countered at 165 pounds with a first-period pin to build the lead back to seven at 19-12. Tiffin took a major decision at 174 pounds to inch back within three points.Â
Augustana closed the match winning each of the last three weight classes to clinch a win. At 184 pounds,
Charlie Petit earned a ranked win, dominating in an 11-1 major decision.
Owen Wasley followed with two takedowns and 12 nearfall points on his way to a tech fall and
Jaret Peterson outlasted Richard Thornton in a 5-1 decision to finish off Tiffin.Â
The Vikings return to NSIC action on Saturday, Jan. 17, hosting Jamestown at 2 p.m., inside the Elmen Center.Â
