SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Augustana men's hockey's Brett Meerman was recognized by the Hockey Commissioners Association as the National Co-Forward of the Month for December, announced on Thursday afternoon. 

Meerman was recently named the CCHA Forward of the Month earlier this week. He led all CCHA skaters in goals (5) and points (9) in December, helping Augustana to a 3-1-2 record. He also had league-bests in shooting percentage (41.7%) and power-play goals (3), while finishing second in plus-minus (+5). Notching 12 shots on goal, he had one game-winning goal and blocked three shots defensively. His month was highlighted by three straight games with multiple points, including a three-point showing (2 goals, 1 assist) in a 7-4 victory over Omaha on December 19.

Jacob Jastrzebski was named a runner-up for the HCA's National Rookie of the Month. 

Augustana returns to conference action this weekend against Northern Michigan.
