FARGO, N.D. – Avery Lommel of Augustana women's swimming & diving team finished day two of the NSIC Championships on Thursday as an NSIC Champion in the 3-meter dive at the Hulbert Aquatic Center. Multiple Vikings also earned strong finishes throughout the day.
Lommel kicked off the day by breaking her school record in the 3-meter prelims with a score of 460.35. She continued her incredible day in the A-final by shattering her record again with a score of 469.40. Lommel claimed the NSIC Championship by 38 points and earned 20 points towards the team score.
Kierstyn Nelson finished first in the B-final of the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.83 and earned nine team points.
Maggie Lombardi finished three spots behind Nelson with a time of 58.78.
Brianna Ridpath and
Lenja Osborne swam in the C-finals with times of 59.09 and 59.52.
Ylva Konnings finished third in the B-final in the 400-yard IM and touched the wall with a time of 4:39.86. Konnings' finish gave the Vikings six points.
Maija Kangas and
Audrey Johnson also earned points in the B-final with times of 4:42.53 and 4:43.81.
Margaret Reed garnered 13 points in the 200-yard freestyle A-final with a sixth-place time of 1:54.37. She improved on her preliminary time of 1:54.78.
Tova Blikre finished second in the C-final with a time of 1:56.68.
The Vikings closed out the night with a third-place finish in the 400-yard Medley Relay. A team of
Ella Ward-Zeller,
Ava Brogren, Nelson and
Sofia Hein went toe-to-toe before they finished in third place with a time of 3:50.38 and 40 team points. Garcin Larson, Maria Preuss,
Lenja Osborne and
Maija Kangas finished third in their respective race to add 16 points.
The Vikings continue to day three of the NSIC Championships on Friday with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 5 p.m.
