Brandon Weigel was the lone Viking with multiple hits, finishing 2 for 3 with a pair of steals and was hit by a pitch. Nate Soelter had three RBI and was one of seven Vikings to record a hit.

Drew Ball was dominant for the Vikings, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out 10 in six innings of work to move to 2-0 on the season. After a walk to lead off the seventh, Jack Sutton threw the next 2 1/3 innings, allowing a pair of runs and striking out two before Ryan Clementi got the final two outs.

Ball opened the day with four strikeouts in the first two innings before the offense opened the scoring. McPeak reached on a one-out walk and Berg doubled to get them each in scoring position. Soelter hammered a fastball in a two-strike count, driving it the other way off the scoreboard to give the Vikings a 3-0 lead.

In the third, Eikmeier legged out a hustle double with one out and was able to come around on a Pinnow triple to add a run. Three pitches later, Bjorn lifted a sac fly to bring him home and make it 5-0.

That would do it for both offenses until a wild pitch in the seventh put the Beavers on the board. With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the inning, Jake Lundquist dashed for home, forcing a balk and getting the run back. The Beavers scored a run on a groundout in the ninth inning to bring the game to its final score.

The Vikings will take on Wayne State for a doubleheader on Tuesday at Ronken Field starting at 3 p.m.
