Game one: Augustana 9, Wayne State 5
Six Vikings had a pair of hits, led by two home runs off the bat of Ragan Pinnow. He scored twice and drove in three runs while Carter Heinsch scored twice and Troy Berg and Kobe Eikmeier had a home run and two RBI each.

Mariano Gomez allowed five runs, four earned, on five hits while striking out six in 5 2/3 to move to 5-0 on the season. Maddox Foss earned his first save of the season after getting four outs and striking out three without allowing a run.

The Wildcats scored a run in the first inning before a two-run blast from Pinnow in the bottom of the inning put the Vikings ahead 2-1. WSC came back in the second with a two-run blast of their own to reclaim the lead. With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the second, Brandon Weigel lifted a sac fly to make it 3-3.

The bats woke up in the fourth to blow the game open. Ryan Clementi opened with a single before a two-run home run off the bat of Eikmeier gave the Vikings a lead. Weigel was hit by the next pitch and advanced to third on a Heinsch double. With two outs, they each moved a base on a wild pitch and Berg finished it off with a two-run home run of his own to make it 8-3.

The Wildcats scored two runs in the sixth inning to get back within three runs and would get a pair in scoring position with two outs. Foss held off the rally with a strikeout to keep the lead at three. In the bottom of the sixth, Pinnow hit his second home run of the game to bring the game to its final score.

Game two: Augustana 8, Wayne State 4
Weigel and Heinsch had two hits apiece in game two with Heinsch and Joshua Koskie driving in three runs each.

Josiah Petersen earned the victory after five innings of one-run ball, striking out four and allowing just two hits. Ryan Clementi provided three innings to keep the Vikings in the lead, giving up three runs on four hits and a walk while recording a strikeout. Adam Diedrich entered for the ninth, holding the Wildcats scoreless to finish off the win.

It was the Vikings who scored first in game two. Eikmeier was hit by a pitch and scored on a Weigel double. Heinsch followed with a double of his own to bring him in and then scored on a fielder's choice to give the Vikings a quick 3-0 advantage.

After the Wildcats found the scoreboard in the fifth, Carter Heinsch went the other way for a two-run blast to put the Vikings ahead 5-1. WSC came back in the top of the sixth with a three-run blast to cut its deficit to 5-4.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Viking offense made one last push. Pinnow doubled to open the frame and moved to third with a Lind single. Lind would steal second but a strikeout and foul out put AU in a tough spot. In stepped Koskie, who lifted a three-run blast to right center to take the wind out of the Wildcats' sails and punctuate the doubleheader sweep.

The Vikings will be back in action this weekend, looking to play three games Friday and Saturday in Lincoln, Nebraska against UMary.
