EMPORIA, Kan. – Augustana dropped both games of a Sunday doubleheader to Emporia State, falling 10-6 in the opener before a narrow 3-2 loss in the second game.

Andrea Cain went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI while
Desi Cuevas added a home run and two hits as the Vikings totaled 12 hits in the opener.
Norah Christiansen also recorded two hits and two RBI while
Kierra Lubovich added two hits and a double.
Augustana jumped out to a fast start in the second inning, scoring five runs to take a 5-0 lead.
Susie Tollefson opened the inning with a double before
Sidney Smart singled. Christiansen then doubled to left center to drive in two runs. After a groundout, Cain launched a two-run home run to left field and Cuevas followed with a solo home run down the left-field line to cap the five-run frame.
Emporia State answered with three runs in the bottom of the second inning and tied the game in the third on RBI hits from Addison Callaway and Kinsey Perine. The Hornets took the lead in the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Callaway to move ahead 6-5.
The game broke open in the sixth inning as Emporia State scored four runs, highlighted by a three-run home run from Brynley Smith to extend the lead to 10-5.
Cain added her second home run of the game in the seventh inning with a solo shot to left center, but Augustana could get no closer as Emporia State held on for the win.

Stella Harber led Augustana with two hits, including a double and an RBI, while
Andrea Cain added an RBI.
Helene Krage tossed a complete game for the Vikings, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out five.
Emporia State took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI double from Brooke Flewelling.
Augustana tied the game in the fifth inning when Harber singled and later scored on a Cain RBI single to center field.
The Vikings took a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning. Lubovich singled and moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt before Smart and Christiansen reached base. Harber doubled down the left-field line to drive in Smart and give Augustana the lead.
Emporia State responded in the bottom half of the inning as Addison Callaway hit a two-run home run to left field to put the Hornets back in front 3-2.
Augustana threatened in the seventh when
Claire Wynja reached after being hit by a pitch, but the Hornets retired the final batter to secure the win.
