SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Augustana defeated Minnesota Crookston 2-0 on Friday.
Natalie Ramthun opened the scoring in the 79th minute of the second half off
Makenzie Nelson's assist, and Augustana finished with both goals after halftime.
Ramthun scored the game-winning goal on her only shot.
Delaney Awe added a goal and put all three of her shots on frame.
Linnea Larson recorded the shutout in goal, making four saves over 90 minutes.
Madelyn White tallied an assist and finished with three shots.
Augustana had the first chances of the first half, with
Ellie Hurt sending a shot out top in the 10th minute before
Grace Katter and White added attempts shortly after a Golden Eagles yellow card in the 17th minute. The Vikings kept the ball in the attacking end later in the half, earning a corner kick at the 27th minute and getting shots from
Ava Silvernail and Nelson. Awe put two attempts on frame in the final 10 minutes, but Phoenix DeBrusk saved both, including one at the 39th minute, and the half closed without a goal.
The Vikings opened the second half with attempts from White in the 46th minute and
Paige Bracker in the 49th minute, plus a corner at the 51st minute, before the stretch included a yellow card on Bracker and fouls on both sides. Minnesota Crookston generated the next chances, with Kedin Geremiah shooting high and Aleisha Cortez and Jillian Muehlberger each putting shots on frame that Larson saved. Larson added two more saves on shots by Geremiah and Tessa VanOverbeke at the 77th minute, and Augustana broke through in minute 79 when Ramthun scored off Nelson's assist for a 1-0 lead. Augustana kept pushing with shots from Katter and Nelson, and after White hit the bar at the 87th minute, Awe scored off White's assist to finish the second half and the match at 2-0.
