DULUTH, Minn. — Augustana played Minnesota Duluth to a 1-1 tie Friday. The Vikings put 10 of its 15 shots on goal and shot nine shots in the second half.
Reese Geiger scored on her only shot and finished with two points.
Addison Burt recorded an assist for one point.
Madelyn White led Augustana with five shots and put two on goal.
Linnea Larson made six saves over 88 minutes of play.
The Bulldogs generated two corners in the opening 1st minute, and after White sent Augustana's first shot out left at the 6th minute, Nora Helvig scored in the 11th minute off assists from Lauren Mcgough and Marissa VanDeHei for a 1-0 lead. Augustana answered with shots on frame from
Laina Souerdyke and
Avery Heinz, both saved by Edy Halverson, while Larson recorded saves on Helvig in the 12th minute and Jessica Eischens in the 18th minute during the 1-0 stretch. Augustana pulled even at the 25th minute when Geiger scored off Burt's assist, and Larson added another save on Helvig in the 31st minute to keep the match level.
Grace Katter put a late shot on frame that Halverson saved at the 43rd minute, and the half ended tied 1-1.
With the match tied 1-1, the Vikings opened the second half with shots from
Ella Weide and
Paige Bracker that Halverson saved, while Larson stopped Helvig before the Bulldogs earned a corner at the 52nd minute. Augustana built a longer attacking stretch after the 62nd minute, earning corners at the 63rd and 64th minute and getting two White shots, one saved by Halverson, before
Makenzie Nelson hit the top woodwork in the 70th minute. Minnesota Duluth had a 75th minute attempt from Kaitlyn Beavers saved by Larson, and the Vikings pushed again with two Katter shots and a White shot saved from the 82nd minute to 85th minute before an 86th minute corner. Larson made one more save on Beavers at the 88th minute, and the score remained 1-1 through the end of the second half.
