Brian T. Gerry, MS, ATC

Education: Brian graduated from Southwest State University (Marshall, MN) in 1985 with a B.S. in Physical Education & Health Education. He received his M.S. in Athletic Training from Indiana State University in 1987.
Work Experience: Brian has served as the Program Director of Athletic Training and the Head Athletic Trainer for Augustana College since the inception of the Athletic Training major in 1996. He has been teaching within the College’s HPER Department since 1993. Prior to his current position at Augustana, Brian developed the Sports Outreach Program for Sioux Valley Hospital where he served as Coordinator from 1993-2001. Through this position he secured numerous Athletic Training service contracts and developed the Summer Strength and Conditioning program, the Sports 1 Celebrity Football Camp and the Summer Jam Basketball League. He also served as the Head Athletic Trainer for Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, from 1987-1993 and previously worked with the Indianapolis Colts of the NFL in 1986.
Honors/Awards: In 2007 Brian received the Service of Excellence Award from the South Dakota Athletic Trainers Association for appreciation of his 20 years of service. In 1998 he received the Professional Contribution Award to the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for Sioux Valley Hospital. In 1997 he received the Clinical Teacher of the Year Award from the Sioux Falls Family Practice Residency Program. This was the first time that a non-physician had ever won the award. Brian and his wife Kelli have three children: Jennifer, Matthew and Nathan.
Emily Whiting, MS, ATC
Hometown: Garretson, SD
(Garretson H.S., 1998)
Education: Emily graduated from Augustana College in 2002 with a B.A. in Athletic Training and Exercise Science. She received her M.S. in Athletic Training in 2003 from Indiana State University (Terre Haute, IN).
Work Experience: Emily is currently an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Augustana College. Her primary sport responsibilities include volleyball, women's basketball, and softball. As a Graduate Assistant at Indiana State, Emily served primarily as the Athletic Trainer for men's and women's tennis and the cheerleading squads, with secondary responsibilities with men's and women's basketball.
Honors/Awards: Emily was the first-ever recipient of the Dr. Jeffrey J. Behrens Student Athletic Trainer Scholarship in 2001. This scholarship is given in honor and memory of Dr. Behrens. She graduated from Augustana College with honors and works with Sanford Orthopedic and Sports Medicine during the summer months. Emily and her husband Jason have two sons, Cade and Brendan. They live in Sioux Falls.
Andy Boehnke, MS, ATC, CSCS

Education: Andy graduated from South Dakota State University in 2001 with a B.S. in Athletic Training and B.S. in Health, Physical Education and Recreation. He received a M.S. in Sports Administration from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2003.
Work Experience: Andy is currently an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Augustana College and is responsible for women’s soccer, wrestling, baseball and CC/track and field coverage. Andy also works with Sanford Orthopedics and Sports Medicine during the summer months, and the Sanford POWER Program. Andy and his wife Tami reside in Tea, SD.
Brandon Wells, MS, ATC, CSCS
Hometown: Arlington, Wis.
Education: Brandon graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 2007 with a major in athletic training and a double minor in strength and conditioning and coaching. He received his master’s degree in exercise physiology from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2009.
Work Experience: Brandon is currently an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Augustana. He works primarily with the football and men’s basketball, as well as the men's and women's track and field teams. Prior to coming to Augustana, Wells served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Minnesota State University, Mankato, working primarily with football. During that time he also served as an assistant athletic trainer at the Orthopedic and Fracture Clinic in Mankato, Minn. In the summer of 2006 he served as a Summer Training Camp Intern for the Cleveland Browns.
