Augustana Athletics has a rich softball tradition. One of the most exciting parts of a softball game is a homerun. Over the past three years,
Augustana Softball has averaged an astonishing 25 home runs at Bowden Field. That is over three per game! 

Not only do the student-athletes get excited seeing the ball fly over the fence but so do the fans. This year the excitement will continue as
Augustana Softball has partnered with Kouri Insurance and for every home run hit during the 2016 season at Bowden Field, $100 will be
donated to Special Olympics South Dakota.

ABOUT SPECIAL OLYMPICS SOUTH DAKOTA
Today, more than 2,000 people participate in Special Olympics South Dakota’s year-round athletic programs. Any individual eight years of
age or older with intellectual disabilities is eligible to participate in Special Olympics. The Young Athlete Program also includes children ages 2-7.

Special Olympics contributes to the physical, social and psychological development of people with intellectual disabilities. Through successful
experiences in sports, athletes gain confidence and build a positive self-image associated with success. This success carries over into the
classroom, the home and community fostering acceptance and inclusion for those with disabilities.
