Augustana College Athletics will hold the Third Annual Celebrity Party on Tuesday, June 23 at CJ Calllaway's. This year's celebrity guest will be University of Minnesota head football coach Jerry Kill.
Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 7 p.m. The program will begin approximately at 8 p.m.
The Celebrity Party is an annual event that features a celebrity guest and a dinner. During the event, guests can expect to participate in a meet-and-greet session with Coach Kill as well as have their picture taken with him. Also a part of the event, Jeff Fylling, the "Voice of the Vikings," conducts a question and answer session with coach Kill as he tells his story. The event benefits Augustana College Athletics and its 19 varsity sports.
Jerry Kill worked his way up from the Division II level to become the head football coach at the University of Minnesota where success has followed him every step of the way. Kill completed his third season at Minnesota in 2014, his 21st season as a collegiate head. He owns a career record of 152-98. He was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year by the coaches and media after a 2014 season in which he led Minnesota to an 8-5 finish, including 5-3 in Big Ten play. Kill has guided Minnesota to its first back-to-back winning seasons since 2002 (eight wins) and 2003 (10 wins). In 2014, Kill coached the Gophers to resounding wins against rivals Michigan (30-14) and Iowa (51-14) to claim the Little Brown Jug and Floyd of Rosedale. This year marks the first time that Minnesota has beaten Michigan and Iowa in the same season since 1967. Under Kill's direction, Minnesota also erased a 14-point halftime deficit at Nebraska to beat the ranked Huskers on the road for the first time since 1960. |
