Emily Haywood begins her fourth year as an assistant athletic trainer at Augustana in 2016-17. Haywood will work primarily with the volleyball, women’s basketball and softball programs at Augustana.
Haywood, a 2005 graduate of South Dakota State University, spent the last three years as an athletic trainer at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Haywood was an assistant athletic trainer at Luther in 2010 and 2011 before being named the head athletic trainer in 2012.
She was a student intern at the Orthopedic Institute in Sioux Falls in 2005 before taking a job with the Institute for Athletic Medicine in Minneapolis, Minn. from 2005 to 2008. Haywood returned to her alma mater as a graduate assistant athletic trainer in 2009 where she was also responsible for athletic training services at three high schools.
Haywood, a native of Okoboji, Iowa, earned her Masters of Science in sports pedagogy from South Dakota State in 2010. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in athletic training from SDSU.
Haywood resides in Sioux Falls.
