Kris Regas

Kris Regas enters his second season as the pitching coach with the Augustana baseball program in 2017.
 
Regas, a native of Bourbonnais, Ill., played collegiately at Jacksonville University from 2000 to 2002.

In 2016 Regas helped guide Michael Letkewicz to First Team All-NSIC honors after a stellar senior season that included a win over No. 1 St. Cloud State on the road With Regas’ help Letkewicz also was named NSIC Pitcher of the Week after beatin SCSU.

The Vikings pitching staff posted a 5.60 ERA and a batting average against of .286. The pitching staff struck out 387 and picked up six saves.

Regas played 13 season of professional baseball. In 2015 he was a left-handed pitcher for the Kansas City T-Bones of the American Association, and posted a 6-5 record with 69 strikeouts in 31 games in 2015.

Regas broke into professional baseball being signed as a free agent by the Cook County Cheetahs in 2002. In 2004, he was signed as a free agent by the New York Mets and pitched in four games for the Brooklyn cyclones of the New York-Pennsylvania League.
 
From 2005 to 2008, Regas played for three teams in the American Association, including three seasons with the Sioux Falls Canaries. During his stint with the Canaries, Regas was named Star of the Stars Relief Pitcher of the Year in 2008, with a 1.29 ERA, 72 strikeouts and just eight walks over 42 innings pitched.
 
In 2009, Regas was signed by the Detroit Tigers and had stints at both the AA and AAA level before having labrum surgery at the end of the 2009 season.
 
Regas earned his Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics and computer science from Jacksonville University before earning a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Minnesota State University.
 
Regas has also spent 10-plus years as a math professor at Minnesota State University, Rasmussen College and Globe University.
