Former Viking pitcher Zach Weinandt enters his fourth year on the Augustana baseball coaching staff as a volunteer assistant in 2016.
In his first season as an assistant in 2015, Weinandt helped with the continued the development of a young pitching staff, resulting in the All-NSIC second-team selection of Colton Fast, a converted catcher.
The Omaha, Neb. native spent the previous two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach for the Vikings. The former Viking helped guide Augustana to a school-record 41 wins in 2014 and its first ever conference tournament championship to go along with its second NCAA apperance in school history.

Weinandt played for Augustana in 2011 and 2012, helping the Vikings post back-to-back 30-win seasons. The baseball program reached a milestone in 2011 when the Vikings secured a berth in the NCAA tournament for the first time.
In 2012, he made his first start of the season against Wayne State and helped the Vikings to a 6-2 win. He worked five innings, surrendered four hits and struck out two.
His career pitching statistics include a 3-2 won-loss record and a 5.26 ERA. He pitched 49.2 innings, struck out 34, and was credited with five saves.
Weinandt graduated with his bachelor's degree in business administration from Augustana and currently resides in Sioux Falls.
