Former Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference cross country and track standout Dan Allen joins the Augustana cross country and track and field coaching staff as a graduate assistant for the 2012-13 seasons.
A Waite Park, Minn. native, Allen earned All-NSIC honors in 2011 in cross country and All-NSIC honors seven times for his performance in the 800-meter, mile, and 1500-meter runs. Allen also holds the school record in the 800-meter run and finished in 11th place in the same event at the 2010 NCAA Championships. Allen brings leadership experience from his years as a captain for St. Cloud State's cross country and track teams.
Allen received his bachelor's degree in sports management from St. Cloud State University in 2011 while being named to the Dean's List on six separate occasions.
Allen honed his coaching skills as an assistant for the Cathedral High School cross country team in St. Cloud, Minn. Under Allen's tutelage, Cathedral High School earned a sixth place finish at the Minnesota State High School Championships in 2006.
Allen currently resides in Sioux Falls and is pursuing his master's degree in sports administraion and leadership at Augustana.
