Josh Barrows

Josh Barrows joined the Augustana staff as a graduate assistant in the fall of 2020. The Helena, Montana native rejoined the Vikings after attending Carnegie Mellon University where he got his M.A. in English Rhetoric. 

While at Augustana, Barrows broke the school record in the 600m his sophomore year. He also earned Myles Brand All-Academic award and was a three time Google Cloud/CoSIDA Academic All-American 2017, 2018, 2019. 

Barrows was a four-time national qualifier, competing in the 800m at the indoor championship as well as the 800m and 400m hurdles in the outdoor season his sophomore year. Barrows also ran a 52.32 in the 400m hurdles at the conference meet, qualifying him for the outdoor championship where he earned All-American honors with a seventh place finish in the event.

Outside of athletics, Barrows found time to work with the Augustana Mirror, writing articles ranging from sports to update on campus improvements. He also was involved with the Augustana Student Association, acting as Co-Curriculum Committee Chair, organizing and developing solutions on issues affecting campus life outside of the classroom. 

Barrows earned his bachelor’s in English Literature and Religion at Augustana.  He is pursuing his master’s degree in Sports Administration and Leadership at Augustana and resides in Sioux Falls.
