2017-18 (Junior):
Indoor: At the MSU Open had a personal best in the mile with a time of 4:28.06… in the 3000m had a time of 8:41.80 at the Ted Nelson Classic on Feb 3… also had a personal best at the SDSU Classic on Feb 9 in the 5000m with a time of 15:25.90
Outdoor: At the NSIC Championships on May 11 placed 3rd in the 10,000m with a time of 30:55.56… Also at the NSIC Championships placed 8th in the 5000 with a time of 14:56.04

2016-17 (Sophomore)
Indoor: Raced to a personal best in the mile with a time of 4:34.44 at the Ted Nelson Classic (Feb. 4) … finished 12th at the SDSU Last Chance (Feb. 17) in the 3,000-meters with a time of 8:59.12.
Outdoor: Set a personal record in the 5,000-meters with a time of 14:54.67 at the Kip Janvrin Open (April 28) ... recorded a personal best in the 1,500-meters at the Howard Wood Relays (May 6) with a time of 4:03.14 ... finished in ninth in the 10,000-meters at the NSIC Championships (May 12) ... notched three top-eight finishes in the 5,000-meters during the season. 

2015-16: (Redshirt Freshman) 
Indoor: Finished eighth in the 3000-meter run with a time of 9:06.81 at the SDSU Tune-Up
Outdoor: Finished seventh in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 31:42.26 at the NSIC Championship ... Placed fifth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:37.15 at the Howard Wood Relays ... Placed eighth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:43.52 at the Red Raider Open

2014-15 (Freshman)
Indoor: In Burns second career indoor collegiate meet he ran for a season best 9:02.42 in the 3,000m run at the SDSU Indoor Classic, good for 16^th place.
Outdoor: Redshirt

High School: 2014 graduate of Custer high school … four-year letterwinner and two-year captain of the Wildcats … won 2013 South Dakota Class A cross country individual championship and led team to fourth-place finish … finished as runner-up in the 2012 South Dakota Class A cross country championships and led team to a runner-up finish … earned All-State honors as a junior and senior in cross country … 2013 South Dakota Class A track and field runner-up in the 3,200-meter run … placed top 25 at the 2011 South Dakota Class A cross country championships ... finished eighth as a sophomore and seventh as a freshman at the South Dakota Class A track and field championships … recorded personal bests of 16:06 in the cross country 5k, 10:06 in the 3,200-meter run, and 4:51 in the 1,600 meter run.
 
Personal: Son of Kerry and Laura Burns … born June 9, 1996 … planned biochemistry major.
