Kelsey Thompson is in her second year as a graduate assistant with the Augustana softball program in 2011-12.
A native of Blue Earth, Minn., Thompson is a 2010 graduate of Minnesota State, Mankato, where she was a two-year letterwinner with the Mavericks. During her senior season at MSU, the catcher racked up a laundry list of accolades, including being named NSIC Player of the Year, All-NSIC first team, Daktronics All-America second team, Louisville Slugger/American Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America second team, Daktronics Central Region Player of the Year, Daktronics All-Central Region and Louisville Slugger NFCA All-Central Region first team. She hit .431 with 14 RBIs and 11 home runs as a senior.
Thompson has experience coaching a pair of under 18 teams. She served as the assistant coach for the Minnesoat Blizzard U-18 team from 2007 to 2008 and was also an assistant with Mankato Peppers U-18 team from 2009 to 2010.
Thompson earned her degree from Minnesota State in exercise science with a sports medicine minor in 2010. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in sports administration and leadership at Augustana.
