Tim Evans enters his sixth year as the director of athletic communications at Augustana University in 2017-18.
Evans is responsible for publicizing Augustana's 19 athletics programs via press releases, publications, social media campaigns and statistical maintenance and archiving. He also oversees and serves as the webmaster for the official athletics website,
www.GoAugie.com.
Before joining the staff at Augustana, Evans, a native of Coon Rapids, Minn., spent two years as assistant athletic communications director at Southwest Minnesota State University, where he served as the media contact for seven of the university’s 11 athletics programs.
Prior to working at SMSU, Evans served as an intern with the Concordia University, St. Paul sports information office during the 2009-10 academic year.
Evans is a 2009 graduate of Bemidji State University with a degree in sports management. During his time at BSU, Evans worked as a sports writer for the student newspaper,
Northern Student, and also worked in the BSU sports information office.
Evans, an active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), has volunteered and hosted multiple NCAA postseason events and has served as a statistician for the NCAA and the Minnesota State High School League at numerous tournaments.
In 2010, Evans was the media host and statistician for the NCAA Central Region volleyball tournament at SMSU. During his time at Augustana, Evans has served as the media host for the NSIC cross country and baseball championships as well as the NCAA Cross Country Central Region Championship, the NCAA Central Region and Super Region tournaments. He also was the media relations host for the NCAA Central Region Men's Basketball tournament in 2014-15 and 2015-16 and volunteered at the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Elite Eight.
He was responsible for the successful redesign of GoAugie.com in 2013 and 2016, working closely with web provider SIDEARM Sports. During his time at Augustana, GoAugie.com has received over 9.1 million page views, 38 percent of which were new visitors to the website. Evans has also implemented a strategic social media plan which has resulted in increased interaction with fans and record reach through various social media outlets.
Evans also serves as the Super Region 3 coordinator for the Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year Award.
Evans and his wife Michelle live in Sioux Falls with their son Carter, and daughter, Makenzie.
