Kasey Nikkel is in her third season as a full-time assistant with the Augustana volleyball program. She joined the coaching staff in 2009 as a graduate assistant.
A native of Warren, Minn., she is no stranger to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Nikkel had a stellar career at conference-neighbor, Southwest Minnesota State University.
A two-time All-NSIC selection and a three-year team captain, Nikkel ended her career at SMSU ranked third in attack percentage (.313), sixth in block assists (309) and sixth in total blocks (350). She completed her eligibility with 853 kills and 350 blocks in 129 matches. She also played basketball her sophomore season.
During her senior season, Nikkel was named All-Central Region and was chosen to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America third team. In her four seasons of competition, the Mustangs generated an overall record of 107-31 and a conference mark of 55-15.
Nikkel earned bachelor’s degrees in studio art and marketing from SMSU in 2009 and a master’s in education from Augustana in 2011. She lives in Sioux Falls with her husband, Bryan, an assistant coach for Augustana baseball.
