Augustana Director of Athletics
Josh Morton is pleased to announce the hiring of Madison Peterson as the Associate AD for Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator.
"One of the real joys of my role at Augustana is bringing in talented people like Madison to our team," Morton said. "She will be a leader in our department and we're excited to have the whole Peterson family at Augustana."
Peterson has served as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Operation at Truman State since May of 2018 and was also the Senior Woman Administrator for the Bulldog Athletics Department. In addition to her duties with the institution, Peterson serves on the academic requirements committee for the NCAA.
"I would like to thank Athletics Director,
Josh Morton, for this opportunity to join the Augustana Athletics Department," Peterson said. "My family and I are very excited to join the Viking family and be part of the Sioux Falls community!
"I can't wait to get started working with coaches and staff to help build champion student-athletes."
Prior to her over four years at Truman State, Peterson was the Compliance Coordinator at the University of North Dakota. During her time at UND, she was the liaison for student-athlete scholarship information, tracked team scholarship equivalency and collaborated with the Financial Aid Office.
Peterson started her career at the University of South Dakota where she earned an undergraduate degree in kinesiology and sport science and followed with her master's degree in interdisciplinary studies. It was during her graduate work that she was the graduate assistant for compliance and was responsible for tracking countable athletic-related activities for all sports.
As a student-athlete at USD, Peterson was a three-year letter winner for the Coyote softball team, twice earning All-Summit League honors as a pitcher. She finished her career ranked third on the school's all-time wins list and earned rankings in starts, complete games, innings pitched and strikeouts. In addition, she was a member of the student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) and co-chair of the Sport Management Alliance.
She interned at both the University of South Dakota Foundation and the Omaha Storm Chasers Triple-A baseball team.
Peterson and her husband, Zach, have a son, Johnny, and a daughter, Lucy.
