Paul Yak (Sr., Storm Lake, Iowa) became just the second male to win the NSIC Cross Country individual championship three times when he ran away from the field on Saturday. Yak's time of 25:07.75 on the 8,000-meter course led the Vikings to a dominating team win, totaling 18 points for their fifth straight NSIC team title. Yak began to pull away from the field at the 5,000-meter mark and coasted to a victory with the next finisher coming in 17 seconds later. Yak's win also extends the streak of Viking individual champions to four consecutive titles with teammate Tom Karbo taking the crown in 2010.
