ABERDEEN, S.D. – Henrik Holmberg finished second in the men's decathlon at the NSIC Multi-Event Championships after completing day two on Monday. Holmberg finished with 6,823 points and provisionally-qualified for the NCAA Championships in May.
The Vik, Norway native entered the day in the lead, but Minnesota State's Tandy Juell put together an impressive second day to overtake the lead. Holmberg earned eight points for Augustana's men's track and field team that will count towards the team score for the NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Augustana on May 10-11.
Holmberg expanded his lead with a 15.43-second 110-meter hurdle time which gave him 798 more points. In the discus throw, Holmberg's best mark of 39.53 meters (129' 8”) earned him 655 more points.
Juell caught up to Holmberg in the pole vault when Holmberg cleared 3.55 meters (11' 7.75”) for 496 points. In the javelin throw Holmberg was surpassed by Juell after posting a best throw of 47.30 meters (155' 2”) to collect 549 more points.
