RESULTS

SIOUX CENTER,
Iowa - CJ Ham broke the school record in the men's weight throw and Augustana won five events at the Dordt Open on Saturday.

Ham narrowly missed hitting a provisionally-qualifying mark in the weight throw, but he did etch his name in the Augustana record books with a 17.04-meter (55 feet, 11 inches) heave. Ham took second in the weight throw -- falling two centimeters shy of a provisionally-qualifying mark -- and doubled up on runner-up finishes with a second-place mark in the shot put at 15.35 meters (50 feet, 4.25 inches).

Henrik Hansson and Kayla Mescher made it two consecutive meets where the Vikings would sweep the 600-meter run. Hansson, who also took second in the 1,000-meter run, crossed the finish line in 1:22.50 and was one of two Viking men in the top six with Zach Tuschen taking sixth.

Mescher clocked a 1:36.17, three seconds faster than the closest competitor and she placed third in the 55-meter hurdles -- the first time she competed in the short-distance hurdles.

Kelsey Kaufmann took home her second title in as many meets, clearing 1.60 meters (5 feet, 3.25 inches) in the women's high jump. Kaufmann already hit a provisional qualifying mark in the first meet of the year. Christine Campbell placed eighth in the high jump with a best clearance of 1.50 meters (4 feet, 11 inches).

Augustana placed three in the top five of the women's mile run, including the top two runners. Kyle Blakeslee took home her first win of the year with a time of 5:11.49 with Emma Anderson (5:22.27) placing second and Kaitlyn Yoerg (5:30.07) fifth.

Four Viking women teamed up to take the 4x400-meter relay title, clocking a 4:04.13. Augustana's men's 4x400-meter relay squad took eighth with a time of 3:31.97.

The women's horizontal jumps tandem of Colleen Everson and Kaylynn Erlandson both placed in the top four of their respective events. Everson took second in the long jump with a best mark of 5.25 meters (18 feet, 3.25 inches) and Erlandson coming in fourth in the triple jump at 11.06 meters (36 feet, 3.5 inches).

Carina Hofmeister collected a pair of top-five finishes, placing second in the women's 200-meter dash (26.37 seconds) and fourth in the 55-meter dash (7.50 seconds). Freshman Kyerra Titus-Baer joined Hofmeister in the top five of both events with times of 7.48 seconds (third) in the 55-meter dash and 27.28 seconds (fifth) in the 200-meter dash. Laura Popanz also placed fifth in the 55-meter dash.

Ryan Heuer and Brandon Gildemaster finished three-four in the men's 55-meter hurdles. Heuer clocked a 7.99-second run and Gildemaster finished in 8.04 seconds. Also in the short sprints, Justin Greenway placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.98 seconds.

The Vikings are back in action next weekend at the University of Minnesota-hosted Jack Johnson Invitational on Jan. 25 and 26 in Minneapolis.
