VERMILLION, S.D. – The Augustana College tennis team competed at the USD Coyote Invitational on Saturday in doubles after play was cancelled Friday due to weather. The Vikings finished the tournament with a 4-5 record as a team.
Junior
Jessa Richards paired up with freshman
Berkley Darr losing to University of South Dakota's Milica Pavlovic and Nina Barudzic, 6-2. The duo beat University of Nebraska-Omaha's Molly Martricardi and Michelle Lo, 6-1. Finally, closing out the tournament, the pair lost to Jaqueline Baude and Hylan Miller of Nebraska-Omaha, 7-6. Richards and Darr finished the tournament with a sixth place finish in the A Bracket.
Christine Olivo and
Heather Sullivan dominated against Omaha's Becca Stafford and Madeline Holscher, 7-6. But the pair lost to South Dakota's Sanjana Bidarkal and Omaha's Kanzie Hill, 6-3. The University of North Dakota's Kathleen Preston and Aliza Deming would beat the pair 6-4.
Senior
Jenna Helleberg and Freshman
Kaitlyn Motley went 2-1 on Saturday taking down Stafford and Holscher from UNO, 6-4 and North Dakota's Preston and Demin 6-2. Helleberg and Motley closed out the day lossing to South Dakota's Stafford (UNO) and Scott (USD) in the championship in the B Bracket, 6-1.
This ends Augustana's fall season and they will return to action in the spring.
