Women's 4x400 relay breaks school record, Vikings qualify in five events at Nebraska Tune-Up

Women's 4x400
and Kayla Mescher both ran legs on the previous record-setting team and had a part in shaving off nearly a second from the previous time. With the first 400 meters, Carina Hofmeister ran her two laps in 57.31 seconds, followed by Everson's 58.43-second leg. Charissa Etrheim clocked a 58.57 time and Mescher secured the new Augustana school record with a 57.27-second pair of laps.
 
The men's 4x400-meter team also clocked a season-best with Skyler Kuil, Jeremy Botzet, Aduo Omot and John Klecker combining for 3:22.29.
 
Omot clocked a provisional 800-meter run, taking first with a time of 1:52.48. Emma Anderson placed fifth in the women's 800-meter dash, finishing in 2:17.23.
 
Three Viking women turned in top-15 performances in the mile run. Kyle Blakeslee led the way with a fourth-place, provisional-qualifying 4:58.41. Kaitlyn Yoerg (5:06.70) and Meritxell Delgado (5:07.44) finished 14th and 15th, respectively. In her first competition of the season, Delgado also took fourth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:17.22.
 
In the men's mile run, Klecker clocked his second provisional-qualifying time of the season, finishing fourth in 4:12.01. Keegan Carda placed 11th in the same event with a time of 4:20.23.
 
Harald Karbo led a charge in the men's 3,000-meter run, taking second and improving his qualifying mark with a 8:23.52 time. Adam Braun (8:32.61) placed 14th and Nathan Hauge (8:45.18) took 16th.
 
The Vikings now turn their focus to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championships on Feb. 28 and March 1 in Bemidji, Minn.
