LAWRENCE, Kan. - Augustana's men's and women's 4x1,600-meter relay teams swept their races and
Carina Hofmeister broke her week old record to highlight day two of the Kansas Relays for the Vikings. Two athletes and one relay squad earned spots in tomorrow's finals on day three of the 87th Kansas Relays.
The Augustana women's distance quartet turned in the most dominating effort on Friday, winning the women's 4x1,600-meter relay by 32 seconds.

Meritxell Delgado,
Kaitlyn Yoerg, and
Kristin Brondbo finished their combined 6,400 meters in 20:26.57, taking down Division I squads from Rice and Southeast Missouri.
The men's 4x1,600-meter relay team nearly matched their teammates' performance, completing the distance relay sweep with a 17-second margin of victory.

Paul Yak cruised to victory in 17:34.78.
A week after breaking a decade-old record, Hofmeister was quick to shave off more time from her Augustana women's 200-meter dash record. The Viking sophomore qualified for tomorrow's final with a time of 24.76 seconds.
Kayla Mescher also qualified for a final, taking eighth in the women's 400-meter hurdles prelims. The Brighton, Colo. native clocked a 1:02.76, fast enough for a spot in tomorrow's finals that will feature five Division I runners. Freshman
Corby White placed 20th in the event in 1:05.39.
Mescher and Hofmeister will compete in another final tomorrow after helping the Augustana women's 4x400-meter relay team to a fifth-place qualifying time.
Anne Parsley and
Colleen Everson helped the Vikings to a 3:49.59 time as they missed a provisional mark by a half second. The men's 4x400-meter relay team cut down eight seconds from the previous season-best to place 18th in 3:21.90.
Augustana's women's distance medley relay team showed why they are one of the top Division II teams in the event , taking fourth overall, first among D2 squads.

Charissa Etrheim, and
Cassidy Soli teamed up for to register a time of 12:23.87. The men's DMR squad turned in an impressive 10:38.15 to finish 10th.
The men's hurdles duo of
Ryan Heuer and
Zach Jones competed in both the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles with Heuer placing 12th in the 110 hurdles with a season-best 15.46-second run. Jones took 22nd in both events and Heuer finished 23rd in the 400 hurdles.
Kelsey Kaufmann placed 16th in the women's high jump and Augustana's 4x100-meter relay team finished 19th to close out the day for the Vikings.
