MARSHALL, Minn. – Augustana College women's golf won its second event of the fall season on Sunday afternoon shooting a 314 in the second round of the Mustang Invite to finish at 51-over-par 627. Augustana has won the Mustang Invite, which is hosted by Southwest Minnesota State University, four times in the last four years (2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014).
Minnesota State finished in second, 12 strokes behind Augustana, at 63-over-par 639 (321-318). Sioux Falls placed third at 68-over-par 644 (318-326), followed by Southwest Minnesota State in fourth at 82-over-par 658 (331-327) and Winona State in fifth at 84-over-par 660 (329-331).
Minnesota State's Kanya Sethasompobe won the individual title shooting an eight-over-par 152 (76-76). Augustana's
Marisa Toivonen took five strokes off her first round score, shooting a two-over-par 74 on Sunday to finish second at nine-over-par 153 (79-74).
Jennifer Pederson, who led all individuals after the first round, placed third overall shooting a 10-over-par 154. Pederson was three-over-par 75 on Saturday and fired a seven-over-par 79 in today's final round.
Jordan Bormann, who competed as an individual at the Mustang Invite, placed fifth overall with a 13-over-par 157 (78-79).
Sierra Langlie tied for seventh overall shooting a 14-over-par 158 (77-81) and
JoDee Wheeler, competing as an individual, tied for 16th at 18-over-par 162 shooting identical rounds of 81.
Emily Israelson took three strokes off her first round score shooting an eight-over-par 80 this afternoon to finish tied for 19th at 19-over-par 163 (83-80).
Abby Martin competed as an individual for Augustana and placed 27th finishing at 22-over-par 166 (80-86).
Katie Grevlos tied for 37th at 28-over-par 172 (82-90).
Matty Tschider and
Kali Trautman both competed as individuals for the Vikings at the Mustang Invite. Tschider tied for 43rd at 30-over-par 174 (90-84) and Trautman tied for 48th with a 31-over-par 175 (86-89).
Augustana returns to the course next Saturday and Sunday at the Grand Valley State Invitational in Allendale, Mich.
