Vikings had strong showcase at the MSU Multi and Open this past weekend

Augustana has six first-place finishers at MSU Multi and Open on Saturday

MANKATO, Minn. – The Augustana College track and field team took advantage of another day at the MSU Multi and Open with six Vikings taking home top marks on Saturday.

Carina Hofmeister finished second place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.14. Followed by Anne Parsley taking first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.20, while teammate Emma Schmidt clocked a time of 1:00.02 for a ninth-place finish.

For a second weekend in a row, Kayla Mescher took home the top mark in the 800-meter run clocking a time of 2:19.43. Avery Selberg finished fifth with a time of 2:21.65.

Emma Anderson stays perfect on the season in the 1000-meter run, with a time of 3:04.15. Kaitlyn Yoerg (5:21.08) and Cassidy Soli (5:22.77) pushed the way for Augustana in the women's mile, placing eighth and 10th respectively.

Irene Almarcha set a new school record taking first place in the 60-meter hurdles, provisionally qualifying with a time of 8.71, which is ranked sixth in the nation. Calliann Brunswig also competed in the 60-meter hurdles, taking fifth with a personal-best time of 9.20.

In the women's 4x400, the squad of Valerie Moos, Schmidt, Parsley, and Mescher finished with the top mark clocking a time of 3:59.13.

In the high jump, Kelsey Kaufmann placed second with a clearance of 5 feet, 5.25 inches, while Calliann Brunswig took home first place in the women's long jump with a personal-best clearance of 17 feet, 8.75 inches.

In the women's triple jump, Kaylynn Erlandson placed third making a jump of 36 feet, 1.25 inches. Coley Stoller finished sixth (35 feet, 6.5 inches), while Kirsten Noska took seventh (35 feet, 6.0 inches).

On the men's side, Jason Greenway finished eighth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.01, followed by a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.58.

Chris Sharpe placed eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51:17. Jeremy Botzet ran in the 600-meter dash placing fourth with a time of 1:26.49, while John Isaacson took 10th with a new personal record time of 1:28.46.

In the men's 800-meter run, Zach Tuschen took third (1:58.11), followed by Keegan Carda finishing sixth (1:59.76). In the one mile run, Nathan Hauge took third with a time of 4:19.64, while Paul Yak finished sixth (4:23.37), followed by Carda seventh (4:23.79).

Ryan Heuer provisionally qualified with a time of 8:25 in the semifinals of the 60-meter hurdles. Heuer later finished third place in the finals with a time of 8:34, while Dylon Van't Hof (8.69) placed sixth, respectively.

In the men's high jump, Mason Ford placed second (6 feet 4.75 inches), while Justus St. Sauver took eighth (6 feet 0.75 inches), and Vaughn Thada 10th (5 feet, 10.75 inches).

Peter Schukking opened day two of the MSU Multi and Open with a seventh-place finish in the heptathlon, scoring 3,690 points, which is currently ranked sixth in the NSIC.

The Vikings continue competition on Jan. 30-31 at the Jack Johnson Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. and the Wildcat Open in Wayne, Neb.
