WAYNE, Neb. - Augustana's
CJ Ham broke his own school record in the weight throw and provisionally qualified in two events while six Vikings took home top marks at the 13th annual Wildcat Open on Saturday, hosted by Wayne State College.
In his first attempt,
CJ Ham broke his own school record taking the top mark in the weight throw provisionally qualifying with a heave of 18.86 meters (61 feet, 10.50 inches). Ham also took third in the shot put provisionally qualifying with a throw of 15.78 meters (51 feet, 9.25 inches).
In the 60-meter hurdles,
Valerie Moos took the top mark setting a new personal-best with a time of 9.13. Moos also finished second in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 27:08.
Emma Schmidt took first place with a time of 1:00.31 in the women's 400-meter dash, while
Melissa Barella followed closely behind with a time of 1:04.25 for a fourth-place finish.
Laura Popanz collected a first place mark in the 60-meter dash clocking a time of 8:08.
Melissa Barella took second place in the women's high jump clearing 5.40 meters (17 feet, 8.75 inches).Calliann Brunswig collected a pair of top-five finishes, placing third in the women's long jump (17 feet, 8.75 inches) and second in the 60-meter hurdles (9.30 seconds).
In the women's mile run,
Megan Brown recorded a new personal-best with a time of 5:22.23, while
Carly Bauer took third (5:42.42), and
Leah Jessen finished fourth (5:57.21).
The women's horizontal jumps tandem of
Coley Stoller and
Kaylynn Erlandson both placed in the top-three in the women's triple jump. Stoller took second with a best mark of 11.16 meters (36 feet, 7.50 inches) and Erlandson took third jumping 11.12 meters (36 feet, 5.75 inches).
On the men's side, Tom Sittig finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55:09, followed by an eighth place finish in the 200-meter dash clocking a time of 24.19.
John Isaacson completed in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:28.78 for a third-place finish. In the 1000-meter run
Jake Connealy took fourth with a time of 2:24.04.
In the 60-meter hurdles,
Peter Schukking took fourth clocking a time of 9.92 seconds.
The Vikings will continue competition next Saturday, Feb. 7 traveling to Mankato, Minn. for the Ted Nelson Classic.
