ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Augustana men's golf team wrapped up the fall portion of their schedule Tuesday in St. Joseph, Mo. at the Holiday Inn Express Classic hosted by Missouri Western State University. The Vikings ended the tournament tied for 13th after shooting a three round 63-over-par, 915.
Central Missouri entered the day in fourth-place but found themselves on top of the standings after shooting a 279 in the final round. Central Missouri shot a 19-over-par 871 for the 54 holes.
The Mules were followed by Central Oklahoma at 22-over-par 874 and Northeastern State at 31-over-par 883. Brent Williamson of Northeastern won the event shooting 3-under-par 210 for the three-round tournament. The only other golfer to shoot under par was Winona State's Michael Schmitz at 2-under-par 211.
Augustana was led by
Ted Urch who was 9-under-par for the event, with a three round total of 222. Urch started the day tied for 22nd but after shooting a 73 today, found himself tied for 16th. Â
Collin Hammer improved from his first round score of 82, to shoot back-to-back 74's. Hammer ended the Holiday Inn Express Classic at 17-over-par 230, good for a share of 44th place.
Clay Kopplin shot a 19-over-par 232 for the 54-hole tournament.
Jake Weber improved in each of his three rounds after shooting a 76 today. Weber was 21-over-par for a three round total of 234. Rounding out the Vikings top-five was
Parker Klitzke who was 29-over-par 242 in St. Joseph.
The Holiday Inn Expres Classic marks the final event of the fall portion of the 2015-16 season for the Vikings. The team will return to action in the spring.
