BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Augustana University women's golf team has been ranked in the Golfstat Relative Rankings Top-25 for the first time this season. The Vikings debut at No. 8 in the country in the top-25 poll.
Augustana is the only NSIC team currently ranked in the top 25 and is the highest ranked out of three Central Region teams that made the top-25. Northeastern State was ranked 17th and Central Oklahoma 21st.
The Golfstat Relative Rankings also featured regional and individual rankings. Augustana is currently the top-ranked team in the Central Region.
Sophomore
Sierra Langlie, who is coming off a first-place finish after the first two rounds of the NSIC Championship last weekend, is the second-ranked player in the Central Region and fourth in all of Division II following the fall portion of the season.
Emily Israelson, a sophomore from Staples, Minn., is ranked third in the Central Region and 27th in the country following the fall season. Israelson had a very strong start to her sophomore campaign, with four top-10 finishes in four events this season, including individual medalist honors at the Fall Central Region Preview Sept. 8-9.
Marisa Toivonen is currently ranked third in the Central Region and 66th in the country. Toivonen also had four top-10 finishes this fall for the Vikings, including two straight third-place finishes to end the fall campaign. Toivonen placed third at the Augustana Fall Invite Oct. 3-4 before ending the fall season with a third-place finish in the first two rounds of the NSIC Championship.
Augustana concluded the fall season in first place at the NSIC Championship last weekend. The Vikings shot 47-over-par 623 (313-310) and will carry a 32 stroke lead into the spring portion of the championship in April. The Vikings have won six straight NSIC Championships.
The NSIC Championship was the last event of the fall season for the Vikings. Augustana women's golf will return to action in March.
