SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana University football team (5-2, 2-1 NSIC South) returns to action this Saturday heading across town to take on No. 5/4 Sioux Falls (7-0, 3-0 NSIC South) in the Fourth Annual Key to the City game. Kickoff is set for 2:34 p.m. at Bob Young Field in the nationally televised contest between the two teams.
Saturday's game will be broadcast by American Sports Network and will be aired locally on KELO-2 MyUTV. The game will also be aired on KCLO MyTV and KDLO MyTV and KRPC-4 Tuff TV in Rapid City. Darren Goldwater will handle the play-by-play while Nate Ross will serve as the in-game analyst.
The game will also be streamed live on NCAA.com and the NCAA Sports Mobile App and is the NCAA Division II Game of the Week.
Saturday will be the second event of the First Dakota National Bank Mayor's Cup Challenge of the 2015-16 school year. The First Dakota National Bank Mayor's Cup is a head-to-head competition in 16 common, equally weighted sports at each school with each victory earning points towards the overall series championship. Mayor's Cup Challenge also recognizes academic success and community engagement. Augustana has won the Mayor's Cup Challenge all three years of the competition. The Vikings won the Inaugural Mayor's Cup Challenge by a score of 13-6, before winning the competition 14-5 in 2013-14 and 11.5-7.5 in 2014-15. Trey Heid led the Vikings to a 50-19 win over Wayne State last weekend, tossing for 330 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for another to give Augustana its fourth straight home victory. Heid completed 19 of 26 passes to five different receivers in the win, including
Charlie Hayes who hauled in nine passes for 111 yards and two scores.
The Vikings also got a productive day from running back
CJ Ham. Ham rushed 12 times for 91 yards and a touchdown while also catching two passes for 52 yards and a score.
Augustana and USF will meet for the 22nd time in a series that began in 1922. Augustana won the first 18 games of the all-time series while USF has won the last three meetings. Before 2012, Augustana and USF had not met on the football field since 1986.
