WINONA, Minn. - No. 20 Augustana (17-10, 10-9 NSIC) fell in straight sets Friday night to No. 25 Winona State (17-10, 10-9 NSIC) by the scores of 16-25, 15-25 and 23-25.
The loss Friday puts the Vikings losing streak at two, following last weekends senior day loss to No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul.
Augustana had their second lowest hitting percentage of the season tonight, hitting just .120 in three-sets. The teams previous low was .118 which came in a loss to Southwest Minnesota State back on Sept. 17.
Augustana had two girls with eight kills apiece, senior
Sydney Hunsley and junior
Dani Magdzas.
Ashley Wilson earned six kills on the night.
Sophomore
Alex Banker had a team-high 15 assists while senior
Marissa Johnson had 14.
Tahlyr Banks added three to the team's total of 32.
Junior
Brittany Cech had a team-high 15 digs against Winona State. Two other Vikings earned double-digit digs as well, Banks had 14 while Johnson had 10.
Wilson led the team in blocks with three, giving her a season total now of 57. Hunsley and Magdzas each had one.
With tonight's loss the Vikings fell from sixth to seventh in the NSIC Standings, one spot behind Winona State. However with MSU Moorhead losing to Minnesota Duluth, Augustana has guaranteed themselves a spot in the NSIC Tournament. Seeding is still to be determined.
