BEMIDJI, Minn. – For seven consecutive seasons, the Augustana women's tennis team defeated Minnesota Crookston by a score of 9-0. The Vikings were perfect on the day with no points given to the Eagles on Saturday.
Augustana opened with three dominating doubles wins to give them a 3-0 cushion in the match.
Jessa Richards and
Sydney Postal notched their seventh win of the season, an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles.
No. 2 doubles pairing
Christine Olivo and
Heather Sullivan picked up their own 8-0 win while
Jenna Helleberg and
Meredith Lawrence won the No. 3 doubles by forfeit.
Augustana turned in equally dominant performances on the singles side, with no Viking allowing their opponent to win a single game blanking each opponent by a score of 6-0.
Richards and Postal each won 6-0, 6-0 at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, to ensure the Viking victory.
Berkley Darr recorded her fifth victory at the No. 3 singles, while Helleberg followed suit over Rachelle Alcini at the No. 4 singles.
Lawrence downed her opponent with a score of 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 singles to remain perfect in singles on the year. In the final match of the day, Sullivan won by forfeit at the No. 6 singles.
The Vikings take on host Bemidji State on Sunday with a start time of 9 a.m.
