PUERTO RICO - Augustana women's tennis reeled off their first two victories on their spring break trip taking down Babson College, ranked 13th in Division III, 6-3. Then competed against Division I Colgate University winning 5-2. The Vikings improve their season record to 13-2 and 2-1 on their current spring trip.
Augustana 6, Babson College 3Augustana battled against 13th-ranked Division III Babson College to open day two of their Puerto Rico trip winning 6-3 in the first of two matches on Tuesday. The Vikings swept the doubles matches, followed by splitting singles competition.
Jessa Richards opened the day dropping the No. 1 singles match to Alex Freeman by a score of 6-1, 6-2.
Sydney Postal was also tested in her first set, but came on top winning the No. 2 singles match 6-2, 7-5.
Christine Olivo battled against Tori Paolino at the No. 3 singles and came on top with a 6-3, 6-3 win. The Vikings dropped the No. 4 and No. 5 singles flight in three-sets.
Meredith Lawrence dominated at the No. 6 singles spot remaining undefeated with a record of 12-0 at the No. 6 singles slot. Lawrence matched up against Dina Weick and won 6-2, 6-0 to head into doubles.
The No. 1 doubles duo of Richards and Postal remain undefeated with a close 8-6 victory.

Heather Sullivan deflected Babson's No. 2 doubles team with an 8-2 win. Helleberg and Lawrence then put the final nails in the Beavers with an 8-6 victory.
Augustana 5, Colgate University 2The Vikings logged their second straight win in Puerto Rico with a dominate 5-2 win, this time over Division I Colgate University to close out day two.
Richards opened match two with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles and Postal recorded another victory winning 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 singles match.
At the third-singles flight, Olivo dropped a close 7-6, 6-3 match to Katie Grant of Colgate.
Berkley Darr put the Vikings back on the board taking the first match then winning due to injury from her opponent.
Jenna Helleberg dropped the No. 5 singles match to Kirstie Woodbury by a score of 7-5, 6-3. Lawrence notched a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles to give the Vikings 4-2 lead to head into doubles play.
The Vikings swept all three doubles contests, but due to Division I scoring the Vikings were only awarded one point in the doubles matches.
Augustana closes out their spring trip with a match against University of Massachusetts-Boston at 6 a.m. tomorrow.
